Mangalagiri sarees are crisp finish, unique variety, woven from cotton and striking colour combinations. Managalagiri sarees are in cotton, cotton silk and silk. It has the most characteristic features such like zari patterns are woven on the border and usually no woven designs on the body. Mangalagiri saree is known for its good count quality weaves.

 

Technique - The Mangalagiri fabric is produced by weaving with the help of pitlooms from combed yarn by warp and weft interlacing.

Origin - Mangalagiri sarees are produced by performing handicraft weaving in Mangalagiri, a town in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The occupation of weaving is as old as 400 years as per some inscriptions found at this region.

Every article is handcrafted hence unevenness in the selvedge and weave could be expected and colors may fade or bleed due to the traditional dyeing technique applied. Similarly there may be little variation in print and color due to nature of traditional Block Printing Technique.
