Pochampally Ikkat, is a woven fabric that finds its origin in a small town of Andhra Pradesh (now Telangana), Bhoodan Pochampally. It is the first textile to get geographical branding.

The geometric design on Pochampally sarees is a stand-out feature.

Origin - Pochampally has over 5,000 weavers who weave the handloom with traditional designs called Ikkat. Pochampally weavers are known to produce unique world famous unique sarees called Ikkat sarees that are different from other Ikkat producing areas in India.

Technique - Pochampally, Ikkat& Patola, essentially refer to the same technique of weaving, which is a cross-over between printing and weaving. The main difference between a Pochampally and a Patola, is that of geography and the design language. Pochampally is smoother than other Ikkat fabrics and isn't quite as heavy.

Pochampally Ikkat uniqueness lies in the transfer of intricate design and coloring onto warp and weft threads first and then weave them together globally known as double ikat textiles. The fabric is cotton, silk and sico – a mix of silk and cotton. Increasingly, the colors themselves are from natural sources and their blends. They have traditional geometric patterns in Ikkat style of dyeing.

Color may vary slightly from the image due to the screen brightness.

Every article is handcrafted hence unevenness in the selvedge and weave could be expected and colors may fade or bleed due to the traditional dyeing technique applied. Similarly there may be little variation in print and color due to nature of traditional Block Printing Technique.
