Mangalagiri sarees are crisp finish, unique variety, woven from cotton and striking colour combinations. Mangalagiri sarees are in cotton, cotton silk and silk. It has the most characteristic features such like zari patterns are woven on the border and usually no woven designs on the body. Mangalagiri saree is known for its good count quality weaves.

 

Technique - The Mangalagiri fabric is produced by weaving with the help of pitlooms from combed yarn by warp and weft interlacing.

Origin - Mangalagiri sarees are produced by performing handicraft weaving in Mangalagiri, a town in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The occupation of weaving is as old as 400 years as per some inscriptions found at this region.
